About us

French.ie is a portal site created by and for French teachers in Ireland and is part of the broader Scoilnet portal.

The site aims to provide resource material for teachers and the opportunity to consult pedagogical material online. It offers an ideal opportunity to expand and extend the use of ICT in language teaching.

The development of the site was initiated by the French Embassy in Ireland and is a product of collaboration between the French Embassy and The Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST).

An initial consultative committee involved representatives from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA), DES Post Primary Inspectorate, French Teachers Association, Dublin City University, University of Limerick, and Waterford Institute of Technology. The original website was launched in October 2005 with the current format released in summer 2014.
